yesterday, my father in law put a new starter in my car. He had put the emergency brake on to work on the car. This morning when l left to go to work, my car would not go. My car wanted to go...butIt felt like something was holding my car as l was trying to drive. l realized the e brake was on, and took it off...and it still did the same thing, when l went forward and backwards. l can here creaking from the back wheels...so l assuming my e brake is stuck on? How do you fix that? The whole 2 years l have owned the car l have never used the e brake....and now l think its stuck =( l know its not the tranny...the car was still moving..but at a snails pace with creaking.

you can;t drive it like that, will burn up the brakes, need to have someone go under the car, and pull the brake cable to release it..or you will have a mojor problem, even fire.

Moe than likely, your rear E-brake cables are rusted and seized . They will need replaced. You can try soaking the outside jacket of the cable with WD40 or some other light spray lube and tapping on the cable housing to see if you can get it to free. This happens when they are not used and the inside cable rusts to the outer jacket.Good luck.
