Just bought a cherry 78' Mark V. 50,000 orig. documented miles that (no B.S.) was owned by a 92 yr. old lady. She drove it until they took her liscense away 4 yrs. ago. The only thing wrong with it is the exhaust resonator rotted off from sitting in her garage. If anyone knows where in northeastern Ohio or anywhere else l could get an O.E.M. repl. please let me know. No luck so far checking here and there. MUCH appreciated.
l do not wanna add a pice of pipe alone. From everything l see and have been able to find out about this vehicle-it is all original except the tires, belts, hoses, air filter and of course oil and filter. She kept all the repair invoices and only had one place work on it. They verified thru their records what was done. I will find an O.E.M. resonator to keep it as close to orig. as possible.

Just replace it with a piece of pipe. The resonator really does not do much anyway. You will never even miss it.

Okay, well, if ur dead set on keeping it, l just checked the online Ford dealer parts catalog, & it only goes back to the 1980 model year. So, no hope there. Walker is a major supplier to the O.E.M.s but they do not seem to have one either. It looks to me like ur only choice might be to try to find one in Hemmings Motor News. It is available in stores. Check the Lincoln Parts For Sale part of their classifieds. You might get lucky & find one there. If u can not find an original one, there r universal ones available, but l do not know how good they are. Walker does have a replacement tail pipe to eliminate the resonator. It goes all the way from the muffler to the rear of the car, so, it is not just a patch pipe. It is listed in their catalog.

As cool as keeping this type or car totally original the resonator muffler actually hinders the performance of the car and is a product of the fuel & smog issues of the 70's. It does little except reduce horsepower and l think you will be pleasantly surprised with the operation without it. Best of luck!
