They normally are right. They do complete testing.

Actually, they do no testing. They always based that kind of stuff on their biases. Japan good, USA bad.

Consumerism is an activist belief system. It is not just some bunch of bland scientists that are doing honest study to help you.

l really do not know what the deal is with that: CR gives the Ford Focus a recommended buy, but does not do that for cars and trucks made by Toyota, so l think it is hard to call them biased. The Lincoln Aviator is mechanically identical to a Ford explorer, and l never hear of anybody who is unhappy with their Explorer. The CR rating might have more to do with resale value, or additional maintenance costs from extra goodies.

Do they also say the Mercury Mountaineer and the Ford Explorer are bad purchases?

when reading reports from CR you have to read very carefully why they say its a good buy or a bad buy do not just take the overall rating because some stupid unimportant issue can put a car in the do not buy category so read and see if they say why its not a best buy.
