thermostat might be stuck, and not allowing coolant in, or you got a leak somewhere and are losing coolant so there is not enough to cool it down.

Check to see if you have coolant. If that is good then you could try replacing the thermostat. If that does not work then l would take it to a reputable mechanic.

also make sure you routed the belt properly, either you missed the water pump pulley or your problem really is the water pump. You didnt say why you put new belt on, did the old one suddenly break? If so the water pump could have seized and broke it.
