l know they are both built on the same panther platform and share a majority of the same components. So does the Town Car have $20,000 worth of technology/luxury features or does the ''Lincoln'' brand name really carry that much weight? l think it is just ridiculous. Somebody please explain this to me.

you pay for the name. but if you want to compare the 2 cars you need to compare the town car base model vs. the grand marquis fully loaded model. the town car base model is still fully loaded. when you compare option to option the difference is not quite so high. more around $10,000.

You are buying a name. The Mercury is as nice as the Lincoln.

the lincoln is larger has better shock absorber which makes it a smoother car to ride or drive in. wheel base is different too. lincoln parts are stronger and vary in technology

Lincoln has more options, class, and usually rich people buy them, so there is more profit to be made. People rather say they drive Lincoln than Ford

please just test drive them both, l have allways owned lincolns and have owned mercurys, THEY ARE NOT THE SAME!! you test drive the lincoln guaranteed, you will fall in love and understand where the extra 20 grand is justified! it is way more than just an emblem on the car.

why do not you answer your own question if you go to a restaurant and pay $20 for a steak dinner and go to another and pay $75 for a steak dinner and you are full and they both tasted good or you by a pair of slacks at Kohl is for $20 or go to Nostrums and pay $95 for a pair of slacks l think you know the answer you pay for name, status its in everything everywhere.
