HAS NEVE DID THIS BEFORE SMOKING ACURRING BECAUSE ITS BURNING ON THE MUFFLER l GUESS NO SMOKING AT ALL WHAT SO EVER FROM ENGINE OR THE TAIL PIPE WHAT COULD IT BE. HELP ME PLEASE THE LINCOLN HAS 209400 MILES FREH TUNE UP AND OIL CHANGE

Sounds like the tranny dipstick insert has come lose.had it happen on a 96 Taurus Wagon. Also after engine/tranny has cooled check with your hand to see if perhaps you have a wet spot in or around any part of the tranny housing. Last but not least ensure that all of the bolts that hold the tranny to engine are in place and that none are missing.

It could be the dipstick but l would say its more like the trany line or lines.Jack it up and look under as someone starts it and then you could find the leaks coming from.GOOD LUCK!!!

first place a sheet of cardboard under the car & under the transmission mark on the cardboard the frount, back, sides of the trans. let set over night, pull it out the next day & look at it, frount of trans leak spot, frount pump seal bad// back of trans leak spot// output shaft seal bad.// right side of trans leak spot. dip stickor oil cooler lines leaking.// center of trans leak spot. trans oil pan leaking.// leaking off the cardboard a hole in the cooler lines or the conections r loose

first, maybe the smoke is coming from the leftover oil that dripped on the exhaust, from the oil change.
second, the tranny oil is red. is the oil red or brown?
third, l think that is leaking, is, on top of the engine, in the back, just above the tranny housing, where it bolts on to tail of the engine, is the OIL SENDING UNIT, if this little, starts to seep, & finally go, ur car is going to start to smoke like a bomb went off.
my money is on the oil sending switch. good luck
