l just bought a beautiful '94 Lincoln Town Car.The owners used to own three Midas Muffler shops, so their mechanics always took great care of that car.l have all the books and records, regular oil changes, etc.

l noticed when it is hot and when l pull away from a traffic light, it blows smoke.l sat in a parking lot and let it idle for a minute then gave it gas and more smoke came out.

Since l am in the car, l can not tell if it is blue or not, but it seems white from what l can tell.But I am not sure!Any ideas/suggestions/repair-prices?
It blows the smoke when taking off from a stoplight, or sometimes, from reving the engine hard after idling.

white is coolant
blue is oil
black is fuel


prob. head gasket(s) if it is white smoke
avr $ of parts is about $50 labor should be about 2-3 hours

it doesnt have to burn blue---white, blue, gray, whatever--you're burning oil, it is called ''blow by''.
You got taken. Either drive it and enjoy it for what it is, or unload it on someone else.
There is stuff you can add to the crankcase to reduce blow-by---just go to Autozone and check out the display, it will be by ''engine additives''.

Head Gaskets need repair and l would do this asap before you blow the block. Is there water in the oil. Check this because it will leave pit maks in the pistons as well.

you either have a cracked head or a cracked block. it will be expensive to fix.

Since you're not sure what color the smoke is it is pretty hard to say what needs done (if anything) or how much it might cost. Depending on the mileage the smoke may just be from normal wear on the engine and not much to worry about. Best bet is to have a trusted mechanic take a look at it.

It sounds like it may need a valve job. it may be burning oil if it is smoking.

If ur Lincoln is BLOWING a LOT of white smoke then it could be the head gasket has failed.HOWEVER a Lil white /grayish color is normal for a lot of cars on the road. especially when it is cold out or the engine is still heating up during a drive.this is SIMPLY condensation throughout the exhaust system.

Check ur coolant level when the engine is cold. & note the level it is at. fill to normal or ''full level'' & drive as normal checking the Coolant once the engine is cold. noting the level if it has changed drastically.

Joe is correct but to be on the safe side look at the rear alternator bracket where it bolts to the intake manifold. If the recall was not done you may have a crack there and a coolant leak if not , Joe has you covered.

If the engines loses oil, the valve seals are worn out
