Car wo not start. Just a heads up l dont know much about cars.A friend changed the alternator and the distributor, nothing.Batteryslowly goes dead after a couple days of not using it.When l try to jump it, it sounds like its about to turn over but never does.On 2 occassions l got it to start but it died both times after about a minute.Please help.Could it just be the battery?
The car will chug over and over right after or while l am trying to jump it, it seems to keep a little charge for a while but the next day the car is completely dead, no lights,no chugging no clicking, nothing.No smoke or sound or anything when it did get started and died.As far as the dash light or overhead lights l guess go, the battery light comes on and the check engine light comes on, but the engine light has always been on anyway b4 the problem.There is also a problem with the suspension l guess, idk if it has anything to do with it but it takes about 5 minutes for the car to get elevated.Thanks for the info. hopefully this clears a little bit of it up

You need to provide more information. What lights come on, & how long do they stay on? Exactly what kind of sound does it make? Does it actually make that chugging sound like the engine is actually turning, or does it only kind of start & then stop within a fraction of a second? Is there any smoke or anything when it does start & then dies?

Diagnosing a starting problem requires every possible piece of information about what the car is doing, no matter how insignificant it may seem.

Ultimately these r the broad possibilities:

Engine is not getting fuel (fuel pump, fuel injectors, fuel filter, fuel line.particularly if it is near the exhaust)
Engine is not getting spark (could be wires, plugs, ignition, distributor, alternator)
Air is not being properly metered (could be a sensor, or could be a wiring fault)
The engine computer is not working (the number of things that go wrong all at once when this happens is startling)
Your ignition switch is broken. (You'd be surprised how enigmatic that one can appear)

It is not just the battery. If ur alternator is working just fine, & you're able to start it at all, it should keep running even if the battery is completely shot. This is actually the only thing you've enabled people to eliminate, by the way. NEED MORE INFORMATION.

you should get a new battery first and it should start right up if not then you probably got a bad starter. You know l am looking for a nice Mark VI l l want the BillBlass addition do you have the BB addition? would you like to sell it?
