There is a 1997 Lincoln Town Car for sale. The asking price is $3000. No dents on the outside...couple of scratches on the trunk...but nothing too big. Inside is in good shape..just a little wear on the seats...but no tears. The guy said that there is nothing wrong with it as far as it running...no problems with that. He said the only ''major'' problem is the crack in the windshield. He also said the reason for selling it is he wants a Lincoln LS. So what do you think????

Well you forgot to tell us the milage, but it does not sound like a bad deal. You can go to NADA.com and check the book value of the car. I'd drive the car for atleast 30 minutes and really pay attention to the tranny and any unusual noises. Make sure the AC works and all the locks and windows. Look under the car while it sits for awhile to see if there are any transmision or engine leaks.

That is all that it is worth. l would not buy unless the guy can prove that trans fluid, brake fluid, radiator fluids & brake fluids have been changed at least every four years.
Speaking to owners, l have heard that the v-8 5.0 gets excellent gas mileage on the highway. Up to 30 M.P.G. The 5.0 would be relatively cheap to replace if u had to.

l put 400,000 on three different Mustang G.T.s in the last 18 years. The first one, a 1988, 235,000 miles including a lot of speed parts & trips to the drag strip. l think the engine & trans r the same as the Lincoln except for different settings to compensate for the different weight & purpose of the car. Never had any transmission trouble at all. Did lose alternator & a cyl head gasket at 212,000 miles. Also, 88 was the first year of the injected 5.0 (In California only). Lost two fuel pumps because they were not rugged enough & would burn out. l changed them myself, a little awkward as they pump about 40 P.S.I. & r located in the fuel tank.

What is the mileage?

As my friend would say, it sounds ''too sweet to be wholesome.'' Have a mechanic check it out thoroughly before buying.

l own a Lincoln, Cadillac and a VW. Do yourself a favor and buy a Honda Civic. Gas is $4.00+ for regular in Cali and moving east fast. All Lincoln drink gas!! Plus parts are as much as Cadillac. Be smart and hope this helps

It all depends on the mileage and trim level. The Cartier trim level was the top of the line. It seems to be more desirable and harder to come by than the base model Executive.
