l am getting water when it rains in my 1996 lincoln town car it is not wet any where on the roof but l get a big puddle on the floor on the rear seat area on the drivers side,

The water could be coming from anywhere on the driver side of the car. First check the door weatherstrips for tears or damage. If you do not find anything, you will need someone to spray the hose at it while you search inside for leaks. Keep in mind it could leak behind the dash and run under the carpet all the way back so look anywhere and bring a flashlight. Chances are you will have to remove interior panels to find it.

Check you weather stripping,they almost always go bad on older cars (get all dried and cracked,they just deteriorate),and that seems like the only real possible solution.

you need to get the wet carpet out of the car

it will mold and start to smell

with the carpet removed it will be easier to find the leak

Does your car have a sunroof? If so it may be leaking or the drains (in the roof) may be clogged, dumping the water into your car.

The leak could also be coming from the Air conditioner. l have had that problem before in Fords but not in a Lincoln specifically

do you have a sunroof? only thing l can think of that would do that even if it is closed properly they still leak and they drain so you never know it leaks but if the drain tube is bad then the water has to go somewhere.

Rear DRIVER'S side is unusual. Usually it is the rear passenger side, & that leak comes from the front.

Forget about the A/C.that can not cause a leak on the driver is side.
It is very possible the leak is coming from the front.but u always notice it in the rear first, because it is a lot lower.
Pull up the carpet in the front enough for u to run ur hand underneath to see if it is damp.
If it is, ur leak is from the front & that is where u need to start looking...run a hose over the windshield & use a flashlight to look under the dash.also remove the kick panel & watch behind it.

If u have a sunroof, check the flow of the front drains. Open the glass, & take a cup of water & pour it slowly in the trough. You will see the drain holes at the front corners. The water should drain right out, & drip behind the front wheels. If it is really slow or does not flow.that is ur problem.

If ur front carpet is not wet & only the rear is, then u need to look at the rear door. There r drains at the bottom that can get clogged. What l do is take my pocket knife & put it between the outside of the glass & the rubber, & pour some water inside the door. It should flow right out. If it doesn't, or takes a long time, that is ur problem.

Also could be the rear or quarter glass, but these r less likely as you'd have a trunk leak from these, also.
