why does my 91 lincoln town car shut off when i put it in park

l just changed the alternator does this have anything to do with it?

It is possible, without more info it would be hard to tell

It might be the alternator the alternator keeps the battery charged - however if you have no trouble starting the car in the morning (after the car being parked all night) l dont think it would have anything to do with it - it might be that your revs are set too low and you might need this fixed - its a rather quick thing to do and not overly expensive

Does it start and run okay everyday? then it has nothing to do with your alternator. l have heard of that before but can not remember what that problem is but if it only does it when you put it in park l would not let it bother me much because when you do put it in park you are ready to shut it off anyway.

Sounds like you may have a short some where in your system, maybe it had caused your alternator to go bad.. l would take it some place and have the system checked out.
