will be attached with a standard hexagon bolt..do not know the specific size likely 1/2 inch. while the piston on any disc brake could be turned it does not do so by itself. Pistons in disc brakes generally only move up & down & can only be turn if u really put some effort in to doing so.there is no reason to ever do so.

When u compress the caliper back into the housing first open the brake fluid reservoir & if it is close to full remove some fluid. When u press the caliper back in it will force fluid back into the reservoir & if its close to full can sometimes cause it to overflow. Brake fluid is nasty stuff on the painted surfaces of cars so its best not to cause it to spill all over the place. You can also loosen the bleeder valve & squirt the fluid on the ground when ur compressing the caliper but that is not very enviromental.

The rear brake calipers for a 1997 Lincoln Town Car r secured to the anchor plate by either two 7mm allen (or hex) head slider bolts or 10mm conventional bolts. The caliper piston on this particular application does NOT need to be turned. To retract this piston, requires it to be compressed back into the housing the same way a typical front brake caliper would. The reason for this is because the parking brake utilizes ''mini shoes'' inside the ''hat'' of the rear rotors. When the parking brake is applied, the ''mini shoes'' move outward to grasp the inside of the ''hat'' of the rotor on this particular car. Hope this helps.
