The caliper is off. l have tried to beat the rotor off with a rubber hammer...no luck. There is a race(bearing) in the center held in by a stud, lock ring & nut. Will this need to be replaced as well? l have changed rotors before but never incountered this scenario. Do l need a puller, slide hammer? What am l over looking? Need input!! Thanks

Rotor is made with the bearing assembly, you have to remove the hub to remove the entire assembly

You DO NOT need to remove the center axle nut on this application. If you do, you risk damage to the hub & bearing assembly. BIG $$. Simply remove the caliper and caliper bracket. Spray generous amounts of PB blaster or WD-40 to the area around the hub. SMACK the OUTER SIDE of the brake rotor until it breaks free of the hub to remove. The above poster is referring to vehicles that are 2WD. l have never heard of a 2WD Navigator. Hope this helps.

Thought they were offered as either 2wd or AWD?

On 2wd l agree w/smacking the rotor.
It is amazing how tough some of them are to break loose.
Sometimes even after a good PB soaking, it is bigger hammer time.

they do make 2 wheel drive Navigators they always have you can get them either way. So if l was you before l start beating on the rotor l would find out from a dealer or a brake place like Midas. if nothing is holding it on you may have to beat the hell out of it to get it off just make sure before you start beating on it.

buy a new one and look at how it is held on and go from there.
