l just bought a '85 Lincoln Towncar with 258,000kms on it the other day and im having a few probelms with it. Im hoping someone could help me with them. First of all l will drive my car around for a bit with no problems and l will shut it off and try to start it like 10 seconds later and it wont start. l have to boost it. l just replaced the battery so im thinking its the altenator, but if it is wouldnt the car be running off just the battery and have dim lights or die on me? Someone said that they think its my starter ''dragging''? And the second thing that is wrong with my car is im feeling a vibration/binding coming from the rear differential. It only happens once the vehicle has warmed up and at low speeds. Like when im accelerating from a stop, or slowing to a stop, or turning a corner. Could it be that the fluid is just low, or dirty, or the gears are messed up, or the bearings are worn out, or the Universal Joints are worn out? Any tips or comments would help thanks!
so what about the read diff probelm?
i checked all the fluids and they are all at the levels they should be and none are dirty. l will be rotating tires soon. :)

l would have to agree its the starter for your starting problem. For your other problem it could be the rear end but you need to check your tires first. Just rotate them back to front and see if anything changes. The other thing is the trans check the condition of the fluid. Ig it is in thee rearend its probably just one of the axles and you can get a replacement from a salvage yard.

Get the car running , loosen and take the Negitive cable off, If the alternator is bad the car will die . If it is charging the car will stay running
, the vibration could be a U-Joint
