what does that mean and what can l do to fix it the most inexpensive way....just bought the car for 3000 is that a good deal 165Kmiles clean smotth ride lil bouncy but true luxuary what would u reccomeenned l do to my car to keep it runnin good should l use a high miles oil get platium plugs...ect any sound if is good and thanks in advance...

Lincoln town cars use air suspension (air bags) to level & stabilize the rear tires & axle. The light signals that u have a problem with this system, either with the air bags leaking or the auto-leveling mechanism. The bad news is this is a very expensive fix. I've seen junk yard air bags going for $700 each. The good news is they make a kit to replace ur air bags with coil springs. The ride quality will be lessened, but it is only a few hundred, much less than repairing the stock system.

For everything else, platinum plugs r not worth it. They only allow for longer intervals between plug changes. You wont get any more performance than u would from the motorcraft copper plugs. High mileage oil is up to you, but if u keep up on ur oil changes there is no need for it.

But, the ride quality will not be lessened, at least not from my experience dealing with this particular issues in Crown Vics.

As for the engine, that 4.6L will run fine without gimmicks that you mentioned.

l would get rid of the airbag suspension. That airbag system is a headache. l found the 4 wheel coil kit on Ebay for $335.00 including shipping and changed them myself. You will save a lot of money..

The high mileage oil is not going to hurt anything. It just has additives that swell seals to prevent leaks, including the valve guides, helping to slow oil consumption. Copper core plugs r sufficient. Remember, the engine was designed & put into service before the snazzy spark plugs came along & their heat range is specific so u will not always get much improvement for the high costs of such plugs. $3000 is a bit high, but if the car is clean u did okay.

As for the air ride, the light could mean a number of things. Ride height sensor failure, leak, or compressor failure. These systems r not mystical & do not have to be outrageous to service. Check out Arnott air ride systems for spare parts. The system is very straight forward. Two air bags in the rear, solenoids on both bags, plastic lines, sensor & air pump under the hood.

At 165,000 miles l would make sure the transmission fluid is clean & the filter replaced, keep the engine oil clean & periodically check the rubber & metal lines under the hood & the electrical wiring for signs of age & insulation cracks. Other than that u have a great car that will last u quite some time & delivers a great ride.

The ride quality will change somewhat if u go with the coil spring replacement. Whether that is acceptable to u is the question.

On the brighter side, it does not cost $700 for these air springs, which r relatively easy to replace.

The only other pieces of the system that could be generating the light r the solenoids at each wheel (~$25.00 new) or the compressor (~ $190 remanufactured)

I'd start with the air springs first, find any leaks, & then work ur way towards the compressor. It is really a simple system with few parts to replace, & the ride quality is worth the effort.

if you are mechanically incline you can repair the system for a reasonable amount of money but if not l would recommend the conversion kit it would improve the ride that bounce going on would be gone. To get parts is not expensive one answered mentioned $700 for parts from a salvage yard is ridiculous they do not charge that much shop around. And as most have told you as far as the engine just routine maintenance is all it needs.

l would replace the plugs with oem spark plugs the air ride could be alot of things from a leaking air bag to a bad mod.. it does not cost that much to fix in any case and for ride l would not put in the coil springs if you bring it to a good repair shop they can use a scan tool to help find the problem
