It would be. Lincolns have been presidential rides since Cadillac dealers annoyed Harry S Truman by refusing to allow his motorcade to borrow cars for motorcades during the 1948 campaign. His subsequent stretched Lincoln Cosmopolitan was followed by John F. Kennedy is navy-blue (later repainted black) 1961 Continental. Nixon took delivery of a 1972 Lincoln.

Reagan brought Caddys back to the White House. It is about time for a change in limos we can believe in.

Come on, they're underpowered. Only 275 hp while all the competition have at least 300. And they get better gas mileage too, only 24 mpg. l am waiting for the day they put the Ecoboost on the MKS to give it 330 horses and better gas mileage. Then it might be worth checking out!

The MKS would make an awesome Presidential Limousine. Lincolns were the preferred limousine of the White House from the 1939 Lincoln that served Roosevelt, to the 1950 Cosmopolitan that served Truman & Kennedy through the infamous 1961 Continental that was the car John F. Kennedy was fatally wounded. As an interesting side note, JFK actually preferred Lincoln Continentals once Packard ceased production.

Nixon had the distinction of taking delivery of two Presidential Continentals - a 1969 & a 1972. The 1969 at the time was the most expensive conversion car ever built, costing upwards of half a million dollars at the time. The 1972 did it is job remarkably well in that it is the only Presidential Limousine with three ''saves'' to it is credit.

In 1983 - Cadillac reappeared, due to complaining about a lack of fairness in the government bidding system that kept them in support roles from the time Truman was in office on. Ford also was forced to bear the cost of building, equipping & maintaining the Presidential Limousines & the costs by the 80 is were mounting so they were glad to share the duties.

President Reagan, who had historically owned Lincolns as his personal vehicles & did in retirement as well, took delivery of the 1989 Presidential Town Car which served up until just a few years ago.

The 1993 Cadillac Presidential Fleetwood Brougham was the last true car based limousine. The newer models all use a 3/4 ton GMC truck chassis as their starting point, & have body panels built to resemble a Cadillac, but aside from trim, have nothing in common with the Cadillac in service at ur local funeral home. A keen eye can pick out the differences quickly.

Personally l think the 2000 & 2006 ''Cadillac'' limousines r dreadful looking. President Bush reportedly does not like them at all & he was the one that branded them with the nickname ''The Beast''. Reportedly the 2000 model will be destroyed sometime in the near future as none of these ''cars'' r to be kept for historical purposes anymore.

Lincoln Town Cars now serve in the support or ''Off the Record'' capacity that Cadillacs used to.

Sorry but the DTS from Cadillac is a better looker and performer.

None of this little front wheel drive stuff will ever be used as presidential limos. They will switch to trucks before they do that.

You watch.

The MKS is not anywhere near the size required to build what is required. Presidential limosines weigh about 10 tons.
