Tranny level is correct. Car has sat for about a year.

Run the car and see if it improves. If not, take it to a workshop and replace the transmission fluid along with the gasket and filter. Sluggish gear boxes normally sort themselves out after a good run once they are taken out after a long period of unuse. Lincoln have hardy gearboxes and l am sure the above remedial action will solve your problem.

From the transmission valve body,to regulate pressure ,there is a throttle valve cable,attach to the throttle by a rubber grommet,it comes of and cause this exact problem,if driving like this for long,will toast the tranny.

Just as Carman Nguyen posted, the plastic grommet that connects the TV (throttle valve) cable to the transmission has probably fallen off. If the grommet breaks off and the cable dislodges on the under side of the throttle body, you will experience the exact symptom you describe. This part costs $1.73 from fordparts.com.
