It runs ruff at first, takes about 5-7 cranks to start, and once its started l have no acceleration power, l mean l will floor it and only go about 25-30 mph.... so many ppl told me so many diff things, what are you ideals on what it could be?

It could be that the catalytic converter is stopped up or possible emissions sensor problem. It could have also jumped time. The only way to diagnose this would be to take it to a skilled mechanic and let him check it out. It should be relatively cheap for the diagnosis. The repairs could end up being quite expensive depending on what is found wrong with the engine.

Try and get the codes read and see if they can help narrow it down some. You have the EEC IV or OBD 1 dianostics. Go to auto zone and have them read the codes, they should still have the old readers or their new ones have the ability to read the older systems. good luck.

Try going to Auto Zone or some other place that sells parts and see if they can plug your car into their computer to see whats wrong with it (its usually free instead of going to a mechanic). It could be one of the sensors, which one l am not sure.

the same thing happened with my old mercury marquis. It was the catalytic converter.

Sounds like you're having a problem either getting fuel in or getting air out. Could be almost anything from the fuel pump to the injectors to the exhaust system.

Autozone can read your computer and tell you more accurately what is wrong.

Get someone to raise the motor put your hand close to the exhaust if you feel pellets hitting your hand or no exhaust coming out real hard your converter is stopped up. get some help, hope this helps.

when is the last time ya changed the fuel filter 90% of the time it is clogged good,gas is realy dirty out of the pumps and the injectors need super clean fuel,,, 10-15 dollers at the parts counter

l think a tune up, l do not think its the catalytic converter because it would start up okay & idle ok just would have a loss of power. Does not sound like a fuel problem if the filter was that bad it would have quit completely by now. It sounds like a complete tune up meaning everything wires coil packs, plugs or u could just take the plugs out & see what they look like u will probably find that one or two of them r looking really bad which could mean a bad wire or a bad coil pack. And if so u would want to do the complete tuneup & change everything also do not for get to change the air filter that s over looked all to often.

DOES THE EXHAUST SOUND LIKE A VACUUM CLEANER ? RUN IT FOR LIKE 5 MIN AND LOOK UNDERNEATH , ARE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS GLOWING ORANGE ?
