Check your multi-function switch (flash-to-pass, winshield wiper, hi-lo beam, and hazard light). If it is worn, it can cause the symptom you describe, since power from the highlight swtich goes through to the multi-function switch before it actually reaches the headlights. Hope this helps.

It sounds like a headlamp switch getting hot and cutting out

That is my guess, too. The headlight switch is on the blink, please forgive the pun. Beyond that it could be a loose fuse or relay.

The multi-function switch in the column is probably melting down. Have it checked before it is too late.
