Check the fuel filter and make sure you are getting spark to the plug wires, just put a screwdriver inside the spark plug wire and hold it about an 1/8th inch from something metal and have them turn it over...if you have spark and it is getting gas I'd say it is the timeing is off.probably needs a new timing chain

The grinding noise could be many different things. Remember Suck bang blow. You need fuel spark and compression for a car to run. Check all of those things and let us know.

My car would not start the other day due to the cold, so l put an old blanket over the engine and under the hood for the night (it does not have any fiberglass batting under there), and the next day it started right up (have to take the blanket out first).

Grinding does sound like the starter.did you check the oil and the anti-freeze?Battery still good?

well if it cranked over it was no need to check the starter because it would not be cranking over. How cold is it where you are? it got below zero where l am last week and my 98 Cont would not start did the same thing. l do not know what is causing it but twice when the temp dropped around zero it would not start so l would suggest a tow to the best garage you know.

You might have a dead battery, try jumping it and see what happens
