Someone please tell me where to go or where to look and NO l can not afford a mechanic right now so please if your not serious about giving me a answer then do not please

If u r changing the ignition switch - electrical part of the system:
Remove lower access panels under dash.
The switch is held on with 2 nuts & is
about 1 inch wide & 4 inches long with
many wires.
The connector comes off by unbolting it.

If u r changing the ignition key switch:
You will need special tools -- steering wheel puller, lock plate compressor, etc.

Most Auto-Zone & Advance auto zone stores have these tools in a loaner tool program. And assist u with the information u need.

BE SURE TO REMOVE THE AIRBAG FUZE BEFORE STARTING WORK

NOT TOTALITY SURE ON THAT MAKE / MODEL , BUT ON MOST CARS YOU HAVE TO PULL STEERING WHEEL ( NEED PULLER ) ON MOST THERE IS A PIN TO PUSH TO RELEASE OR ON SOME A BOLT / SCREW TO REMOVE BEFORE THE IGNITION CAN BE REMOVED . YOU MIGHT CHECK YOUR LIBRARY FOR A REPAIR MANUAL FOR THAT CAR . A MONTH AGO l DRILLED ONE OUT BECAUSE THE MAN LOST HIS KEYS

If it is the IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER u r referring to, it takes all of less than a minute. Simply turn the ignition to the RUN or ON position (the position the key is in when the engine is running), & insert a straight pick or hard thin pen into the hole on the bottom of the steering column shroud (there r 4 in total, 3 with screws that secure the upper & lower halves together & one blank hole on the bottom side of the ignition). With the said object depress the lock detent, & pull ignition with key OUTWARD to remove. Installation is simply the reverse of removal. You DO NOT need ANY special tools, or ANY TOOLS for that matter. Hope this helps.

Dain O is right if u re changing the ignition switch,,,,

Ford Girl is right too if u re changing u re key cylinder

But if u lost ur key & u want to change the key cylinder ,you cant push the pin on the side of the cylinder [ as the Ford girl is saying] unless u have a key to turn it to on position. SO if u have a key Disregard this answer
BUT if u do not have a key u have a big & expensive problem..

the only possible cheapest way is to get a lock smith just to turn the key on & follow Ford girl procedure,,Take out the key cylinder & put the new one,,,If u do not have a new one available u could still use the car by using a screw driver as u re temporary key,,,make sure u align it back to on position when u have the key cylinder & align the key cylinder to the on position too,before u put in the hole

there r two kind of key cylinder that will fit in ur car,,
one is fully assembled & the one that u have to cut the blank key that they provide with the parts & assemble the tumbler to match ur trunk key,, l recommend the first one.

If the lock smith can t turn ur ignition to on position the last resort is to change the key cylinder & the housing that hold
it.
