to a regular carburetor and a vacuum advance distributor will l have problems with transmission shifting when computer wiring will not plug into regular carburetor when l try to start this car it always takes time to keep it running if it stays running untell it gets hot it will go ahead run l have put every senser on this + computer this car has done this sence january l have put a new fuel pump also new distributor parts-coil -coil wire ignition-module

1981, l am surprised you have this on a car that old. It is very difficult and expensive to chage injection to carb

No, for the money and time you will spend trying that, you'd be better of just fixing your TBI. There is no advantage in it, and you have already pointed out some of the big issues with the retro-fit. Not only that, you will have onboard computer issues to deal with and poorer fuel economy than you would have with a new TB l system. Do not do it.

to get around some of the issues u could face by switching to a curb is the 1980 models came standard with a curb & they r the exact same car & u could get either a curb or the body injection like u have. So if u could find a 1980 Lincoln or the mercury is & Fords all still had curbs until 1984 & they have the exact engine as the Lincoln so if u switch from a existing car that is the same then u should not have any problems with computers or trans not shifting right. But before u do any of that make sure the EGR valve is ok & the throttle sensor is good also, good luck.

You will have no problem with the transmission. It is fully operated by the TV cable. You need to be sure you adjust the cable right. It wo not shift without it.
