l have a 1971 Lincoln Mark iii which has a little problem.l got the car and the battery was disconnected, when l connect the battery it starts to turn the engine, slowly.Could it be someone wired the starter wrong?Or could it be the relay?or is there something else l should look for?
One other question, hope someone can help, is there 2 fuse boxes on this model?l found the one int he glove compartment, is there another one, if so could you tell me?Thank you for your help and knowledge!

The starter problem is most likely a stuck starter relay located on the fender apron. With age, the spring inside gets weak and the contacts will get pitted. I've seen this a few times over the years. Ford even had a TSB on the issue back then. There is only one fuse box on this car. These older cars had fuse links protect circuits that provide power to other components.

Low battery voltage will also cause the starter relay to hang. Put a fully charged battery in it. If it still tries to crank, replace the starter relay.

The you already have may be it but if not consider if the car is rusted you could have a electrical short if the car has been sitting and mice got in it wires could be exposed or crossed so first as already mentioned replace the relay or solenoid switch on the apron that could be it you might get lucky but if not you will have to start at the ignition switch and trace the wiring harness back to the relay, have fun.
