l have a 93 lincoln continental with a 3.8 engine.The oil pressurs will show 4 bars and for no reason drop to 1 and stay there for a while then go back to 4 bars.The car has a new factory rebuilt engine new oil pressure sender and we have installed 3 instrument cluster,still the situation remaines.Is there something between the sender and the indicator? Does anyone have any ideas,my mechanic is at a loss.Thanks to all Val

Ford has a situation with grounding. sometimes a ground wire will be left off or not making a good conection when an engine is replaced or serviced.
l would sugest checking all the ground wires and conections on the block and also verify the oil pressure is alright with a mechanical gauge tied in along with the electric gauge.
another possability is the oil pressure relief is sticking and the mech. gauge test should show this if both gauges check the same.

Did the engine come with the timing cover? That is where the oil pump is at. You may have a bad oil pump, or something blocking the pick-up screen.
