Most likely the suspension air bags are leaking. This is a common, but expensive, problem on those vehicles.

l agree that the ''air bags'' for the suspension may be leaking but also u may want to check the suspension rehostat. It is a sensor mounted to the chassis which senses when the car has hit a pot hole in the road, it relays the message to the computer to either pump up the air bags or deflate them. They r common for getting rusted stuck in one position. Have u ever lifted the car without turning them off? well if u have then thats ur problem cause u must always turn them off from in the trunk else the bags will deflate too much & burst. l have fixed many of these suspensions and have never heard of a rehostat, wow. Any way get the shop manual its on CD and it takes you through the complete system. If you are not mechanical incline then have the system converted to standard suspension there is a kit and most garages will do this for you. There are so many possibilities of why its not inflating til l can not begin to cover them all.

It could be the solenoids(at the top of each bag)but if both bags r not inflating in the rear its not likely they r both leaking at once, it is more likely the compressor(air pump)is not working properly, what will happen is the pump will go out & the air in the front bags is locked in by the seals, but the rear bags deflated & the pump is not inflating them because its weak or all the way out. l love my Lincoln, but once l had trouble with the air ride it was not worth the money to fix it,(could be the pump,solenoid or air bags,)and the parts r too expensive or difficult to find , so l just bought a spring kit online & it was a piece of cake to put the rears in , & solved the problem forever.

they make a kit for lincoln --rear air spring--do away with your air bags --ARNOTT INC. still have same ride add a heavy shock

If one component goes in the system you will be chasing problem after problem. you can switch over front and back suspension to conventional for about $500

Burnt fuse for the air motor if you do not hear it run. If you have leaks the air suspension motor will probably be finished. Leaks usually occur on the air springs in the rear.
